Look Sussex was formed in 1992 and there were approximately 36 families involved. During the years our numbers have grown and although they have fluctuated, at present we have 165 families.
The trustees are all parents of Visually Impaired children and very passionate about the service we provide. Most VI children attend mainstream school and therefore have no contact with other VI children and feel alone and isolated, and the parents’ feel the same often from their childs birth. Our events provide an opportunity for the whole family to get together at social fun events, the children make friends and realise they are not alone and the parents provide a great support for each other. Not forgetting of course the all important brothers and sisters who struggle with having a VI sibling who sometimes gets more attention from Mum & Dad. Many good friendships have been made over the years, not only by the adults, but the children too.
